1) In your ad copy you say that you’re the best. Does saying it mean that you are? On a post somewhere in social cyberSpace a customer cries you down.
2) Your marketing budget is bigger than the competition. This allows people to think that your sales revenue is 10X. Therefore your product/service is better. Meanwhile somewhere on the street your employees are telling of what’s going on behind closed books.
Secret to being better than the competition is knowing and holding on to what makes you different from the competition. Transparency in today’s social media world has more weight than what you advertise about yourself.
If I’m in Position #1 then I’m D Best. People will click through to my website and I will make more sales. Not true. Not true. Not true.
Position #1 does have its benefits but the page that your visitor falls on must be valuable and relevant to their search. Your page must delight them in less than 9 secs. or they’ll be gone, never to return. Sometimes position #3 actually works better than Position #2 in terms of number of organic search click throughs.
Secret to ranking on Search Engines; doing great in Organic Search and being on Page1 is
Common Pitfalls- If I keep an eye on my competition. They’ll never be able to outdo me.
Every time I do a competitive analysis for a client the competition is very different from what they thought. They’re getting chewed and left in the dust by others companies they weren’t even looking at. Not to mention alternative competitors. E.g. If you’re selling cakes your competition isn’t only other cake producing entities. You must even think beyond other desserts.
This concept of doing and copying the competition can also cause you fall into the pit of copying the wrong industry. Many people look at Amazon or Coca Cola and come up with slogans like: “Eat into Happiness” You do get some level of spillover of the other company’s campaign. But customers will never RAVE about you when you’re a copycat.
For better results in #DigitalMarketing #SocialSelling WSI looks at the competition. But the focus is more on the company we work with. When your company operates with a good heart and a well-defined digital marketing plan, the competition is non-existent.
Have an Awesome Day
Its time to start making good decisions based on the data your website generates for you. When you send out emails, you put several CTA links. Your data will tell you which link performed most clicks. When you place CTA links on your website you know which ones are most relevant and which positions perform best results.
Too many businesses build their websites with flash, with sign-up forms, with social buttons, etc. and very few measure or analyze the performances of these features.
In this month’s marketing video we outline the reasons why pulling reports and analyzing data is not an option for your website. If you want to learn how to improve your website visitor’s customer experience thus increase sales coming from your website, the number one way is to regularly review these 5 profit pulling analytics reports:

Imagine no more Monday Business Review Meetings where marketing department and sales department are pointing fingers. Instead gather the metrics when you track your buyer from awareness to decision to buy from you. Numbers do not lie. Allow all your marketing efforts to qualify leads from the start. Reduce data transfer errors from marketing department to sales department. When the lead reaches sales department they know all about the lead and the lead need not explain her/imself all over again.
Marketing Automation is a powerful system to send to your target audience the effective message s/he needs to hear on any occasion. The right message will be sent to the right prospect at the right time everytime.
Marketing Automation helps brands better serve their target prospects and customers while constantly improving overall customer experience.
Marketing automation software has made impressive strides over the years. It offers businesses both large and small the tools and data reporting they need to build relationships and drive new revenue. Here are some of the ways an automated marketing strategy can help you.
You have several products and not sure which product your customer wants right now. Let the system do the work for you. Through Email marketing you send offers to your list. The interested prospects/customers go to your landing page and opt-in. Now you know that your silent reader really wanted a swim suit for a toddler and not a surf board(for example). This is what we term segmenting your list. Create CTAs (Calls-To-Action) and display to different contacts based on the data you’ve collected.
Repurpose old content and share on Twitter and LinkedIn to draw in new leads. This way you test drive content strategy before putting bigger adspend dollars behind your updated content information.
Use data driven information like conversions and responders to build your marketing plan.
Marketing automation software offers better reporting and marketing analytics that help you reduce CAC. It improves conversion rates, fosters savings through customer referrals and helps with onboarding. And that’s not all – it reduces the amount of manpower required and improves lead generation, email targeting, measuring, reporting and more.

Chuck Bankoff likens the existence of Digital Innovation in Dog Years. It seems so far away when we didn’t have Facebook. Yet that was only launched in 2006. How Facebook has disrupted our use of the time and how often we pick up our phone to check for messages even when it didn’t make a sound.
The choice you have is to accept Digital Disruption in your everyday life or create your digital future when you choose habits.
Whenever you go to an event. Decide on a hashtag. Please brainstorm the hashtag so it could mean something. The WSI Global Convention was held in Toronto. So our hashtag for our event was #WSIToronto. Here’s a quick view as to how our hashtag performed.
Everyone wants leads and sales from a social presence but with Twitter; the more you give the more you get. So share your info on Twitter. In a few days I’ll be talking about Skyrocketing your #EmailMarketing efforts. Twitter is a news channel and is best used if you are willing to listen to your audience and interact with them. Get to know them. The more you listen the more you will learn how to best sell to them. The images above show our influence on what’s trending with the hashtag #WSIToronto and TweetBinder gave us the overall stats of our event. (images shown above)
“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.” ~C. S. Lewis
The Uber Disrupt
All companies want to be the uber disrupt of their industry. Some will succeed and some will spend lots of energy and money and not disrupt anything but their staff. My take-away from the great thought leaders at the WSI Toronto Convention was to be consistently different after you brainstorm and choose your voice, culture, and how you are going to serve your customer better. This lesson was repeated from the Keynotes with Craig Fitzpatrick and Dave Kerpen to the Workshops on “Feeding Your Business Lead Generation Solutions” for you and your clients by Vineesh Sandhir of ALM Corp.
The great thing about learning anything at my WSI marketing convention is whatever works for my lead generation works for my client’s lead generation.
Now that the dust has settled and my adrenalin is slowing down; it’s back to work. The first step is truly optimizing Google Analytics on my website. Did a quick scan and it needs work. The next step is landing pages. It makes no sense doing ads and you got nowhere to send your paid traffic to. Think about it. You pay Harry, who is 25 years old not married and with no kids, to step into your store and you show him diapers. Crazy example, but we all make that mistake.
WSI wants you to be successful with Digital Disruption; meaning we want to increase your sales because of your unique value. Don’t be part of the 95% of website owners who disrupt their visitors into leaving their Digital website within seconds of arriving because they did not find what they were looking for.
Have a Great Day!
Here are some quick action tips you can implement today
Don’t Do: Please don’t give ads huge banner space on your website especially if it’s an e-commerce website.
Don’t Do: Please don’t buy stock photos to show business meetings especially if your business revolves around meetings.
Don’t Do: Auto-Play a video and it would most likely chase your visitor away never to come back. Imagine an office clerk doing research. She lands on your page and the video auto-plays. She has no ear plugs in and suddenly she’s the attention of the room. The quickest action would be to click ‘X’ and the tab is closed and your website went with it. Embarrassing Does Not = Come Back Later.
Do: Examine your Analytics on Your Website and know the most active pages. Make it easy for your visitors to find these. Nice way to learn this is by placing a button on your website that helps you identify through a short survey what exactly your visitor wants from you.
Do: Do give your website the time and brainpower it needs to bring in the metrics you desire.
Load Speed of all pages. There are many reasons for slow load speed: large graphics, hosting, too much going on in the background, etc. Another aspect of speed is allowing your visitor to easily find the page that will satisfy their search. Fast and easy sites tend to encourage visitors to bookmark your website, share it, and even return at a later date to finish their transaction.
Do: give your site a regular 6 month check for performance issues. I have a tool on my site its called ‘Webscan’…for you to do just that. It’s on the left of this article. Go ahead: type in your URL. If you want me to explain it give me a call or fill out the contact us form.
All of the above points I made today will increase the length of time your visitor stays on your website. This metric is vital knowledge.
I hope I was able to remove many problem areas of your website performance. Increased numbers of your website visitors happens after you discover the formula of what makes happy, satisfied website visitors.
We build bridges so your customers could find you and thus want to do business with you.
