Let’s say you’re at a cocktail party and you ask the person you just met. So how exactly does a psychologist help a parent discipline a child without anger? Then the psychologist either asks a question; or goes off on a tangent and completely bores the person to death for the next hour.
Which angle would you like to take? The angle of answering the real question that the person wants to know more about? Or. The angle of talking and talking and the person pretending to listen.
Content Marketing must be relevant to your reader(let’s get back to the blog here). So your headline should be pointing to a question you know your target audience wants answered. Headlines and the short description below is what Google/Bing/Tumblr offers up when someone types in a question. The Search engine wants to give the searcher/surfer the choice to visit your website if your headline is relevant and optimized for that keyword.

The Content in your blog must be relevant and understandable. Let’s go back to the psychologist. In the field of psychology as in many other fields, including mine, there are lots of jargon of the industry. Keep your words simple and talk about the solution of the problem you are attempting to answer. For the Psychologist; he needs to know the stage of the child and what the parent has tried, what the parent understands about disciplining. So if I were the psychologist and write a blog about disciplining a child without anger, then I would hone in on a particular stage. Write about how to solve the typical problems of that stage. I would probably have enough content to keep me busy for 12 months, maybe more. There is no one solution.
From my experience of parenting 7 children. Not one child is alike. What works for one does not work for another. What works today for child number 3 would not work next year for that same child.
Content Marketing for your business will work best if you create your content plan. Have a look at the year. Is your business seasonal? What is your ideal customer doing in February versus August? Will your target audience need more help on the topic of ‘how to teach a child to study for tests, for retention, for self confidence…’ See how many different bits of content can be written around studying?
A great Content marketing strategy is to plan out your topics 3 months in advance. That gives enough time for feedback and editing from all involved on your marketing team.
The Goal of Content Marketing is to either grow your email list, (your list of followers or interested people), grow your market share, increase your SERP or increase sales.
Content Marketing is long term because after people read your credibility because of how much content you’ve shared through your blog; they grow to trust you and then they will buy from you. Google also ranks your website higher when it indexes your content consistently. (Not all blog posts are indexed)

Chuck Bankoff likens the existence of Digital Innovation in Dog Years. It seems so far away when we didn’t have Facebook. Yet that was only launched in 2006. How Facebook has disrupted our use of the time and how often we pick up our phone to check for messages even when it didn’t make a sound.
The choice you have is to accept Digital Disruption in your everyday life or create your digital future when you choose habits.
Whenever you go to an event. Decide on a hashtag. Please brainstorm the hashtag so it could mean something. The WSI Global Convention was held in Toronto. So our hashtag for our event was #WSIToronto. Here’s a quick view as to how our hashtag performed.
Everyone wants leads and sales from a social presence but with Twitter; the more you give the more you get. So share your info on Twitter. Get to know them. The more you listen the more you will learn how to best sell to them. The Uber Disrupt
All companies want to be the uber disrupt of their industry. Some will succeed and some will spend lots of energy and money and not disrupt anything but their staff. My take-away from the great thought leaders at the WSI Toronto Convention was to be consistently different after you brainstorm and choose your voice, culture, and how you are going to serve your customer better. This lesson was repeated from the Keynotes with Craig Fitzpatrick and Dave Kerpen to the Workshops on “Feeding Your Business Lead Generation Solutions” for you and your clients by Vineesh Sandhir of ALM Corp.
The great thing about learning anything at my WSI marketing convention is whatever works for my lead generation works for my client’s lead generation.
Now that the dust has settled and my adrenalin is slowing down; it’s back to work. The first step is truly optimizing Google Analytics on my website. Did a quick scan and it needs work. The next step is landing pages. It makes no sense doing ads and you got nowhere to send your paid traffic to. Think about it. You pay Harry, who is 25 years old not married and with no kids, to step into your store and you show him diapers. Crazy example, but we all make that mistake.
WSI wants you to be successful with Digital Disruption; meaning we want to increase your sales because of your unique value. Don’t be part of the 95% of website owners who disrupt their visitors into leaving their Digital website within seconds of arriving because they did not find what they were looking for.

Here are some quick action tips you can implement today
Don’t Do: Please don’t give ads huge banner space on your website especially if it’s an e-commerce website.
Don’t Do: Please don’t buy stock photos to show business meetings especially if your business revolves around meetings.
Don’t Do: Auto-Play a video and it would most likely chase your visitor away never to come back. Imagine an office clerk doing research. She lands on your page and the video auto-plays. She has no ear plugs in and suddenly she’s the attention of the room. The quickest action would be to click ‘X’ and the tab is closed and your website went with it. Embarrassing Does Not = Come Back Later.
Do: Examine your Analytics on Your Website and know the most active pages. Make it easy for your visitors to find these. Nice way to learn this is by placing a button on your website that helps you identify through a short survey what exactly your visitor wants from you.
Do: Do give your website the time and brainpower it needs to bring in the metrics you desire.
Load Speed of all pages. There are many reasons for slow load speed: large graphics, hosting, too much going on in the background, etc. Another aspect of speed is allowing your visitor to easily find the page that will satisfy their search. Fast and easy sites tend to encourage visitors to bookmark your website, share it, and even return at a later date to finish their transaction.
Do: give your site a regular 6 month check for performance issues. I have a tool on my site its called ‘Webscan’…for you to do just that. It’s on the left of this article. Go ahead: type in your URL. If you want me to explain it give me a call or fill out the contact us form.
All of the above points I made today will increase the length of time your visitor stays on your website. This metric is vital knowledge.

It should be built by digital marketing consultants. What makes your Website a working, lucrative website?
In order for any website to be found; you need to feed it. Keep it alive. So what do websites eat?
So let’s say you sell vegetables. Your website needs words added to it as often as possible. Most business owners want to hear a magic number. Sorry! Well. Maybe I should give you the magic number…It’s the number 1. You need to feed your website with one blog every day.
Ok, ok. I’ll be nice. Your vegetable business is desired by who? Talk to them using words they will use when they are searching for your products online. Talk about the variety of ways you can prepare vegetables so their kids will eat them.
What are vegetables all about? Write about that. I’ll give you another big magic clue. Write about The vegetable of the day in your blog that you write once per day. You should never run out of ideas and topics to write on.
Many websites don’t use their websites properly. Ask yourself the question…Am I getting sales for my business coming from my website? Am I getting visitors to my website? How long are visitors staying on my website?
You can fix your website today by starting to add one blog each day to your website. Keywords that are relevant to your business other than the name of your business is what should be populating your blog.
What started my rant? An advertisement on the television. I went to my computer to check the website. I had the name wrong and couldn’t find the website. I spelt the website wrongly. This simple mistake is made by many website owners as they really do not know what their website really should look like and what it should be able to do when built by an IT professional versus a digital marketing consultant. Problems are huge to you. The solutions to having a not hungry website are simple for me.
